The Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial is a project of the Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Alliance. The Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Alliance is a charitable organization whose purpose is to design, finance and build a memorial site honoring veterans – both living and to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. The project will be known as the Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial, which will be located on donated land within the Village of Howard.

The Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial will be located on a two-acre parcel at Howard Memorial Park. The park is located on Riverview Drive off Velp Avenue and just west of U.S. 41.

With an anticipated Ground Breaking on Memorial Day 2016, the Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial is expected to be completed in the fall of 2016. Prior to this happening, the Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Alliance must raise approximately $1.2 million.

Honoring Those Who’ve Served

Over 88,000 veterans live in northeastern Wisconsin. Over 2,000 servicemen from our area have died while serving in conflicts beginning with WWI. The monument will honor those who have served in each of the military branches in addition to the heroes who lost their lives in service of our country. The names of those lost in battle will be etched in the granite inside the arch.

A Place to Reflect

The arched entrance to the Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial will include gates surrounded by brick, the back of which will showcase corporate donor plates. A 50-foot reflecting pool will be home to a statue of a fallen soldier.

A gazebo will serve the dual purpose of offering a shaded seating area to visitors during non-event days, while also providing a staging area for formal gatherings. A sense of reverence is enhanced at night by lights.

“The nation which forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten.”
